09.03.11 Trapped Chilean Miner will be flying high
Franklin Lobos was trapped just over 2,000ft below ground for 69 days but will this Sunday be soaring 14,000ft above the earth’s surface as the rescued Chilean miner skydives over Wollongong. Lobos was the 27th person to be rescued in the 2010 Copiapo mining accident that saw 33 miners trapped underground. A former professional football player, Lobos is coming to the Illawarra as part of the Fuerza Chile Community Football for the People 2 fundraising event to be held at Macedonia Park, Berkeley on Sunday 13 March. Skydive the Beach Sydney is one of the principal sponsors of Football for the People 2. Lobos will take to the skies above Berkeley at approximately 12.50pm and will parachute into Macedonia Park to celebrate the event.

Skydive the Beach will tonight kick off their brand new Night Jumps. Hoowwwl! Daredevils who loved skydiving the beaches of Wollongong by day will tonight have the chance to freefall under the stars. Held once a month on the Friday closest to the Full Moon, Skydive the Beach look forward to bringing this brand new experience – and only one of its kind in Australia – to Wollongong.
First customer check-ins commence at Skydive the Beach’s Stuart Park office at 8pm. See you crazy cats there!
